Vote to approve the Minutes of the January 22, 2009 meeting:  Moved and seconded; minutes approved.

Chris Knowles presented the recommended slate of candidates for appointment to the Health Council for the coming year.  Based upon the discussion, with input from Chairman of the Dukes County Commissioners, Lenny Jason, it was decided to forward to the County Commissioners a slate including 15 applicants.  The Council will readvertise for as many as six additional members.

Sharon Claus-Zanger spoke briefly about MVCS’s Daybreak program and a desire to make a presentation at the March meeting.  It was unanimously decided to invite Daybreak.

Julia Burgess gave the Treasurer’s Report.  To date no funds have been expended.  It was originally decided by the Coordinating Committee to recommend funding the printing of the Elder Affairs Committee’s Resource Guide.  The Coordinating Committee had then entertained the possibility of funding the VHCAP.  Julia gave three options.  At that point Ron offered to pay for the entire cost of printing the Resource Guide with Tribal funds so that the entire Health Council appropriation could be spent on the VHCAP.  There was a motion to give all Health Council funds, minus $100, to the Access Program.  The motion passed.

Patsy announced that two Rural Scholar nurses are coming back to the Island March 19th and 20th.

Ron announced that the Tribe would be holding an Environmental Health Expo at the Harbor View on May 16th which would include such subjects as Lyme Disease and Tularemia.

Tad, in Sarah’s absence, mentioned that there will be resolutions on all town warrants, with the possible exception of Edgartown, to help fund the VHCAP in the absence of adequate County funds.

Dedie adjourned the meeting at 9:06AM.

Respectfully submitted,

Chris Knowles
